Special Interest Groups
HRACO has four Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that meet regularly to network around these topics:
- Compensation and Benefits
- Public Sector
- Staffing Management
- In-Transition
You can choose to be a part of each group. All you need to do is go to your Membership Profile and select "Yes" for each SIG that you are interested in so you can be included in emails to the group.
If you are interested in starting a new SIG around a particular area of Human Resources please contact executivedirector@hraco.org.
Compensation and Benefits SIG
Thomas Rubino – Chair
The Compensation and Benefits SIG of HRACO is designed to provide opportunities to network and discuss issues specifically relating to compensation and benefits for Human Resource professionals.
This excellent resource tool helps you build your skills and learn what other Central Ohio companies are doing. Your thoughts and ideas can be discussed in our round table discussion format or at our HRCI Credit workshops, which will help enhance your knowledge of specific areas.
Meetings are open to all HRACO members, as well as, any Compensation and Benefits Specialist in Central Ohio. Many of the meetings are absolutely free to attend.
Regardless of your level of interest, we welcome you to join the Planning Committee, where your input influences the programming, or at the Participant level by attending meetings and workshops.
For more information please contact Tom Rubino at CompandBenSIG@hraco.org or 614-221-1500.
Public Sector SIG
Do you work in the public sector? Do you want to share human resource ideas, philosophy and challenges with your colleagues and peers?
Join HRACO’s Public Sector Special Interest Group. As an arm of HRACO, the Public Sector SIG meets quarterly to discuss and emphasize the needs of public sector HR employees as well as building networks and resources for you.
As a member of the Public Sector SIG you will develop your HR skills, knowledge and specific HR applications for your job and for career advancement! You can register for all Public Sector SIG meetings online through the Events Calendar.
For more information on the SIG or to answer any questions at PublicSectorSIG@hraco.org.
Staffing Management SIG
If you are a corporate recruiter, third-party recruiter, or HR professional who focuses on staffing and recruiting then the Staffing Management SIG is the place to be! This HRACO and SHRM affiliated group offers professional development and networking opportunities on a quarterly basis to discuss topics related to the talent acquisition and employment functions. Past SM SIG events have showcased local speakers from Central Ohio companies and universities covering topics such as Generational Differences in the Workplace, Proactive Approaches to Recruiting Talent, How to Deal with Difficult Hiring Managers, and Recruiting & Retention Best Practices.
All events are free of charge for HRACO members and are open to non-HRACO members for a nominal fee.
Opportunities to Get Involved
If you would like to be informed of our quarterly professional development and networking opportunities, please update your profile on the HRACO website by choosing “Yes” under SIG – Staffing Management. This will affiliate you with the SM SIG and add you to our distribution list.
If you would like to help the Planning Committee create our meeting curriculum, contribute topic ideas, sponsor an event or just have questions about the SIG, we would love to hear from you! Please contact Laura Reed, SPHR at StaffingSIG@hraco.org or 614-861-7070.
