• Personal and professional connections are some of the best means of getting what you want. Don’t be afraid to ask everyone you know if they are aware of any opportunities or know someone else who might. Attend HRACO events—our monthly luncheon meeting student rate is only $10—and enjoy networking with our HR professional members.
• Consult with your mentor. Don’t have a mentor? HRACO can help with that, too. We can match you up with an HR professional through our mentoring program. Increase your knowledge of the various aspects of human resources, improve your networking skills, learn how to jumpstart your career and make a friend for life.
• Start looking and apply early. Sometimes it can take awhile to land the internship you want.
• Be persistent. Don’t give up if you aren’t selected right away. Rarely is anyone hired the first time they apply for a job, regardless of whether they are a recent graduate or have 20 years of experience.
