School to Career
The Workforce Readiness Committee has evolved to a school-to-career focus and developed the educational grant program for HRACO. This committee is headed by Ken Lazar who can be contacted at workforcereadiness@hraco.org.
The goals of the HRACO School-to-Career Grant Program are:
- To encourage a wide range of activities that promote career awareness for elementary students, help middle school students explore careers, and assist high school students in preparation for careers, and
- To provide staff development opportunities for school personnel which demonstrate the correlation and relevance of subject matter and its application in the workplace.
A minimum of eight grants (four for Columbus Public Schools and four for career center/JVS) in amounts not to exceed $1,000 each will be awarded during the school year. Eligible participants include teachers, counselors, school administrators and central office personnel who may request funds to be used for school-to-work development.
